Riptide Add Former Second Overall Pick

SAINT JOHN, NB – The Saint John Riptide are excited to announce the signing of Canadian Alex Campbell for the remainder of 2016-2017 NBL Canada season.

Campbell was selected second overall in the first ever NBL Canada All-Canadian Draft this summer by the Windsor Express after playing three seasons for the University of Windsor Lancers.

The six-foot-two, 200-pound guard averaged 21.5 points per game, 6.6 rebounds per game and 3.2 assists per game during his final OUA season in 2015-16. Alex also played for Toronto 3D Global Sports in China for an international tournament in May, where he was the team’s most valuable player and a teammate of current Riptide forward Jahmal McQueen.

Jabs Newby has been placed on inactive reserve to pursue an opportunity to play in Mexico. We wish Jabs all the best in his new journey and we thank him for everything that he has done in his time in Saint John.
